چکیده

Wire electro-discharge machining (WEDM) is a fully extended and competitive machining process widely used for hard and difficult to machine materials. In the present research, experimental investigation have been conducted to find out the wire wear rate at different machining parameter Such as peak current, pulse on time, pulse off time, based on full factorial design of experiment. Molybdenum wire of 0.18 mm and EN-8 material were used as tool and work piece material for the experiment, ANOVA analysis were done to find out the effect of peak current, pulse on time, pulse off time on wire wear and found that the increasing in peak current slowly increase the wire wear but increasing in pulse on time increase the wire wear rapidly and pulse off time not much affects the wire wear. Keywords— WEDM, WWR, ANOVA, Full factorial,

Intelligent Knowledge Based System Approach for Optimization of Design and Manufacturing Process for Wire-Electrical Discharge Machining

Wire electrical discharge machining (WEDM) is a method to cut conductive materials with a thin electrode that follows a programmed path. The electrode is a thin wire. Typical diameters range from .004" - .012" (.10mm - .30mm) although smaller and larger diameters are available. WEDM is a thermal machining process capable of accurately machining parts with varying hardness or complex shapes. WED...

Application of harmony search algorithm to evaluate performance of diamond wire saw

Evaluation and prediction of performance of diamond wire saw is one of the most important factors involved in planning the dimension stone quarries. The wear rate of diamond wire saw can be investigated as a major criterion to evaluate its performance. The wear rate of diamond wire saw depends upon non-controlled parameters related to rock characteristics and controlled parameters related to ch...

An experimental analysis and optimization of machining rate and surface characteristics in WEDM of Monel-400 using RSM and desirability approach

In the present work, an experimental investigation on wire electrical discharge machining (WEDM) of Monel-400 has been presented. Monel-400 is a nickel–copper-based alloy, mostly employed in ships and corrosion-resisting applications. Four input WEDM parameters namely discharge current (Ip), pulse-on time (Ton), pulse-off time (Toff) and servo voltage (SV) have been investigated and modeled for...
